James is a book of practical wisdom for the life of a believer. The short letter challenges us to live in such a way to reflect God’s character in the world as followers of Christ, covering a wide range of topics. Areas of character where we will be encouraged from the book of James include attitudes toward suffering, wealth and temptation, obedience in actions and words, and repentance in our shortcomings. Ricky Simon and Don Dressler will delve into studying James over 12 weeks with observations of his style of writing and discuss the implications for our lives in following Christ.

Throughout the Old Testament, God often meets His people with startling: “Where are you?” “Why are you angry?” “Where are you going?”
From these questions, we see how God pursues our hearts with love and truth, always inviting us to turn toward Him. Christine Labrum will guide this time where together we will listen to the Scriptures, attend to the Spirit of God, and explore what God reveals to us about who He is and who we are.

After each message, we’re encouraged to debrief, ask follow up questions, and rejoice in how the Lord has spoken to us in the proclamation of His Word. This continuous discussion based class seeks to explore further the ideas, topics, and teaching of the Bible presented in the sermon, that they would be applied more deeply or nourish more fully.
