Our Vision
As we seek to make a difference and accomplish things for God’s kingdom, we take
a good look at the ground we’re standing on as well as the ground we have to
cover: Grace Bible Church is a church over 60 years old with all the traditions and
patterns that come with an established, independent, Bible church. We hold to
the fundamentals of the faith (e.g. salvation through faith in Christ,
commitment to God’s word in the Bible, and a desire to share the good news of
Jesus, etc.).
Yet, we have also observed some of the bad habits and mistakes
that cause us to veer away from kingdom-focused living. Things like
disengagement with our community, ignorance of social issues and needs, and a
divide between Christian doctrine and missional living. Therefore, we here at
GBC desire not to simply “do” church, but to “be” the church, the body of
Jesus Christ. We do not run ministries, host events, or recruit people because
“we’ve always done it,” but because we want to make a real difference in real
lives. We desire to be on mission as we live all day, every day. We want our
weekly gatherings to be that of a vital faith community–worshipful and
others-centered. We see ourselves fully engaged with the communities of which we
are embedded–neighborhood, workplace, ball field, and home. We seek to do that
by collaborating inter-generationally, focusing on ministry to children and
families, promoting personal hospitality, and pursuing Gospel-centered living,
committed to bringing about Christ’s kingdom.
